On April, 2 on the balustrade of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering there took place a ceremony of opening of the 7th Annual competition “Macaroni engineer 2014”. Students of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering, Saint Petersburg state polytechnic university and Vologda state technical university.

Participants of the competition were greeted by vice-rector for external relations and youth policy Irina Yu. Lapina who wished students creativity, success and active and interesting work during the two days of the competition.

“Our chair started this competition in erecting a most stable and highest macaroni building, - said head of the Chair of Architectural and Building Constructions Svetlana G. Golovina. – I am pleased that so many students accepted the invitation to take part in the competition. I am sure you will have success and your macaroni towers and bridges will stay till the time results are announced. Wish you success and victory!”

Today at 17:00 the competition started; one can watch macaroni fights on the balustrade of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering. Now students need to show their engineering skills, obstinacy and eagerness in creating buildings using only three packs of macaroni and a pack of sculpture play dough.

In two days results will be announced and there will be awarded new winners and authors of the highest and most stable tower, and the longest and most durable bridge.
