On February, 7 in Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering there started the All-Russian scientific-practical conference “Geotechnics: theory and practice” held as part of the All-Russian conference of young scientists, scientific workers and specialists. The conference will last two days, each having a rich program and containing reports of specialists in geotechnics from 14 countries of Russia and colleagues from Japan.

The All-Russian scientific-practical conference “Geotechnics: theory and practice” is held by Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering, the Russian Academy of architecture and construction sciences and the Russian union for fracture mechanics, geotechnics and foundation construction.  

At the beginning of the conference participants were welcomed by rector of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering Evgeny I. Rybnov and vice-president of the International geotechnic association (Asian department) A.Zh. Zhusupbekov.

“It has become common for specialists in geotechnics to hold conferences in our university in February”, - said head of the chair of geotechnics of SPSUACE, D.Sc. in engineering, professor Rashid A. Mangushev. The current conference is dedicated to the works of our young scientists and specialists of geotechics, authors of works dedicated to contemporary issues and never suspected of plagiarism. And the conference is thought of as a contribution”. Professor R.A. Mangushev wished success to conference participants and further scientific achievements.

Reports made in the course of the conference were included into the collected works of the conference. There are 44 articles in the book which were prepared by the specialists in engineering geology, mechanics of soil, footings and foundations, industrial and civil engineering.
