On March, 19 in the assembly hall of the Academic council of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering there was held a seminar “Development of intelligent transport systems of Saint Petersburg” organized by Saint Petersburg

On March, 19 in the assembly hall of the Academic council of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering there was held a seminar “Development of intelligent transport systems of Saint Petersburg” organized by Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering in cooperation with Saint Petersburg Committee on transport infrastructure development.  

The seminar was aimed at discussion of the city transport infrastructure system development directions, experience exchange between specialists of the sphere and the developers of the intelligent transport systems.

The seminar gathered a large scope of specialists, representatives of committees and city administrative authorities and leading companies conducting activity in the sphere of intelligent transport systems such as: Coordination council on traffic arrangement (Moscow), Committee on transport infrastructure development Transport committee, Committee on information and communications, Saint Petersburg state public establishment “Directorate for traffic arrangement in Saint Petersburg”, Saint Petersburg state establishment “Saint Petersburg transport planning centre”, “Western high-speed diameter” JSCo, “Imtech Russland” JSCo, “Neftegazoptimizatcia” Ltd., “RIPAS” Ltd., and etc. 

The meeting was opened by the greeting speech of the vice-rector for development and advanced training of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering, head of the chair of transport systems Alexander I. Solodkiy and the vice-chairman of the Committee for transport infrastructure development of Saint Petersburg Andrey V. Dybov who expressed their confidence in the contribution of the coming discussion in the further successful work and definition of priorities in the city transport infrastructure development.

The working part of the seminar was opened by the information technologies manager of the “Western high-speed diameter” JSCo I.V. Antropov, who provided detailed information referring to control and paid exploitation of the highway. Further E.Yu. Ananieva, business development manager of “Imtech Russland” JSCo reported about the contemporary projects of “Imtech Russland” JSCo usedin Europe. A.E. Gorev professor of the chair of transport systems of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering talked about the efficiency of introduction of new information technologies into transport systems. There was also made a complex report by the  director of design office of “NGO” Ltd. I.A. Evstigneev who talked about the ways of the transport infrastructure development in Saint Petersburg i.e. problems of transport functioning in Saint Petersburg, regulatory support and development of the intelligent transport systems in our city, issues concerning definition of the most perspective directions of intelligent transport systems development and prior objectives. 

N.E. Podozerov, assistant of the general director of Petersburg company “RIPAS” Ltd. which provides equipment for most crossroads of Saint Petersburg, talked about the current and future projects for creating a modern Russian automated system of traffic control. 

Head of the monitoring department of Saint Petersburg state establishment “Saint Petersburg center of transport planning” V.A. Palchik reported about the role of “Transport model of Saint Petersburg” project in establishment of the intelligent transport systems in Saint Petersburg.

One of the most interesting and useful reports was the one made by the vice-president of “Coordination council of traffic arrangement” (Moscow) I.G. Korolev, who was at the head of development of automated control systems and intelligent transport systems in the capital of our country. He shared experience in developing intelligent transport systems in Moscow and told about the problems which he had faced. This experience was extremely useful for us, as it will enable us to avoid many mistakes when developing intelligent transport systems in Saint Petersburg. His report was of great interest for the audience who later asked many questions.

Vice-director for development of Saint Petersburg establishment “Directorate for traffic arrangement of Saint Petersburg” S.I. Zaichenkov who is responsible for development of intelligent transport systems in our city, reported about the activity which has already been carried out and about the plans of the directorate for further progress of intelligent transport systems in Saint Petersburg.

At the end of the discussion there were offered several ideas on the most effective ways of intelligent transport systems development in Saint Petersburg. Particular attention was paid to the demand of highly qualified specialists. In regards of the personnel issue it is Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering that is rested on hopes as it is a source of manpower, which can solve this problem. All the ideas will be summarized and directed to the city administration for consideration and creation of the automated system of city traffic control.
