On May 6, 2015 Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The celebrations started with meeting veterans in the entrance hall of the university. Warm greetings, heartfelt words, excited and inspired faces – all this became a part of the holiday. Everyone who came to the university that day immediately felt this particular elation. Everyone felt how important this day is.

Honorary guests, employees and students of the university laid flowers to memorial boards at the balustrade of the main building. Later in the Assembly hall there was held a concert prepared by art students’ groups of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering. Before the concert had started the audience listened to the Hymn of the Russian Federation. Then rector of SPSUACE Evgeny I. Rybnov greeted all. In his greeting speech he remembered of those 950 students, postgraduate students, professors and employees of the higher education institution who had gone to the front during the war time. Most of them were killed. Names of those who gave their lives in favor of the Great Victory are listed in the Book of memory, which is kept in the Museum of SPSUACE history. All of them are parts of the Immortal regiment of SPSUACE (LCEI) and people living today are deeply in their debt. “Results of the war cannot be bastardized. Victory Day is a sacred holiday, a bitter day and at the same time a very happy day”, - finished his speech Evgeny I. Rybnov.

Then Zoya V. Kornilyeva, member of the city Council of veterans addressed the audience. The honorary guest said that the first stone in the foundation of the Great Victory was put by our fighters at the Luzhsky front line. Zoya Vladimirovna emphasized that the victory of our people, our city is first and foremost a moral victory, because during the severe blockade period Leningrad lived and worked.

Students had prepared amazing theatre and musical performances all of which were performed at a very high level.

In nearest future as a part of the celebration programme of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory the university plans to take students and professors to places of honor in Luzhsky area to pay a last tribute to fighters of the higher education institution. “Nobody is forgotten, nothing is forgotten” – this is a slogan of the future action.
