On November, 30 in the assembly hall of the Academic Council of SPSUACE there took place presentation of the book “Saint Petersburg. Architectural stories” written by D.Sc. in architecture, professor Svetozar P. Zavarikhin and published in commemoration of the 180-yar anniversary of SPSUACE. In the assembly hall there gathered colleagues, students, friends of the author who thanked the author for the interesting book and talked not only abut that huge work which had been done by Svetozar Pavlovich but also about his personal features such as professionalism, persistence, talent of an architect, artist, architecture historian. Professor Svetozar Zavarikhin received congratulations on publication of the substantial monumental work from first vice-rector of SPSUACE Sergey Evtyukov, vice-rector for development and further education, D.Sc. in economics, associate professor A.I. Solodky, dean of the Faculty of Architecture, D.Sc. in architecture, professor Sergey V. Sementsov, D.Sc. in architecture, professor Yu.I. Kurbatov, PhD in architecture, associate professor Sergey F. Grishin, D.Sc. in art science, professor of the Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture named after I.E. Repin V.G. Lisovsky; architect, associate professor of the Faculty of design of Saint Petersburg art-and-industrial academy named after A.L. Shtiglits A.D. Yarmolin and many other friends and colleagues.

Work within a historic milieu of a unique city such as Saint Petersburg requires special art feeling from architects. Book “Saint Petersburg. Architectural stories” tells about how the alumni of the oldest engineering university of Russia have been coping and still are coping with the challenge of formation and reconstruction if the historic space. At the same time the book gives a detailed description of history of separate buildings, territories, streets, embankments and provides characteristics of peculiar features of the way buildings constructed by the university alumni look.
