SPbGASU alumni announced a large-scale project for the improvement of Kanonersky Island
on Channel One

The project was developed taking into account the features of the local landscape, ecology and the preferences of residents.

“The territory of Kanonersky Island has a huge natural and urban potential. Petersburg is considered a city on the water, but we have practically no access to water: the embankments are blocked by transport arteries. The development of Kanonersky Island within our project will give the city a great chance to get new outlets to the water, to build moorings,” Aleksander Demin, associate professor at the SPbGASU department of architectural environment and landscape design, explained in a TV report.

“The former industrial reservoir is listed in the project as a landmark of the island. An embankment will be built here, people by the pond will be able to relax and go fishing,” explained SPbGASU graduate, architect Marina Druzhinina.

On the western part of the island, the authors of the project found a place for an equestrian sports complex with arenas and trails for walking. And an SPbGASU graduate, architect Anna Goldobina, within the project, proposed to reduce the territory of the shipyard, and to build a university campus and a dormitory of the State University of the Sea and River Fleet named after Admiral S. O. Makarov, as well as organize a space for recreation.
