SPbGASU Graduate students of extramural studies successfully defended graduation works in practical cases of management in construction

At the end of February, the graduation of Master’s degree students under the program of “Management in Construction” took place at the Institute of Part-Time Studies. According to Professor Alexander Petrov, head of the department of management in construction, Doctor of Economics, the graduation was an important event for the entire department. All students made their choice consciously and entered the program already being experienced managers at construction organizations (including directors general, deputies directors general and principal specialists) in order to improve practical skills.

Among the best is the work of Natalia Zaitseva

Alexander Petrov commented:

– Theoretical knowledge in symbiosis with experience made a positive effect on the quality of final qualification works. Many of them were practical and based on real cases. Students gave characteristics of their organizations and offered solutions to problems for specific companies.

Natalia Zaitseva is the author of one of the most successful works, according to the State Examination Commission (Chair: Associate Professor Nadezhda Belova). The graduate has developed a methodology for assessing the comfort of a residential environment in the framework of the Smart City concept. To date, there still are no full-scale and relevant standards for assessing the comfort of a living environment in relation to individual objects.

Natalia reviewed the rationale for such standards at the example of the residential complex "South Gate II" in Kupchino.

✔ In her project, she used sociological tools: a survey of residents of the complex (their satisfaction with landscaping, the availability of schools, kindergartens, shops and clinics, the method of collecting indicators of housing and communal services, the number of parking spaces) and analysis of the available infrastructure. In particular, she focused on the remoteness of the complex from the main social facilities and the degree to which digital technologies were used (the presence of outlets in the courtyard, lighting devices, a video surveillance system, modern intercoms and “smart” facilities in the local area).

“After that, I conducted a correlation analysis to compare the existing standards with the results of a survey of residents, and mathematically calculated the coefficient of comfort of living,” said Natalia.

The study revealed that these standards do not meet the expectations and needs of modern citizens. The application of the developed methodology for analyzing the quality of the urban environment will help to attract the attention of the authorities, public, construction companies, collect information in order to identify ways to rectify the situation, and improve the quality and comfort of the urban environment.

The proposed methodology can be used both at the stage of designing an object, and when improving the regulatory framework in urban planning.

The best works also included Sergey Borkov's graduation qualification work on the “Development of an organization’s anti-crisis management system based on rationalization of expenses for the maintenance of real estate at the example of the FSUE RTRS” (supervisor Alexander Petrov) and Elena Brovchenko’s “Improving the wage system based on effective contract at the example of OOO Clover" (supervisor - Professor Irina Drozdova, Doctor of Economics).
