Kanonersky Island is located in the Kirovsky district of the Northern capital. About five thousand people live here, the area of the island is 115 hectares. The island stretches from north to south for more than 5 km, its maximum width is approximately 650 m.

The island is difficult to get to and lacks modern public spaces. At the same time, the island is important from the town-planning, historical, geographical points of view. The authors of the concept tried to reveal its potential.

According to the authors, the island needs places of recreation, beaches and other opportunities for contact with water. The problem of the Western high-speed diameter will be solved by a green strip of large-sized trees.

Aleksandr Demin is sure that the city needs to use the potential of Kanonersky Island. Here it is possible to link together water, residential buildings, public spaces.

According to the architect, one of the main tasks for the future is to include the southern part of Kanonersky Island in the new general plan of St Petersburg as a recreational space for citizens.
