The team of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University won the silver and BSTU Voenmeh got the bronze.

Lada Tokareva (SPbGASU) won the individual competition for educational testing; Yana Kazantseva, also representing SPbGASU, showed the second result. Sergey Shavurov from St. Petersburg Polytechnic University was the third.

“Last year, at the regional stage of the SOL Olympiad, the SPbGASU team got bronze in the competition of research projects. However, I failed in the individual competition, and this time I worked much harder. My supervisor, associate professor of the Technosphere Safety Department Elena E. Smirnova helped me a lot and I am sincerely grateful for that. Another member of our team, Yana Kazantseva, who took second place in the individual event, motivated me through her personal example,” said Lada Tokareva.

After graduation, Lada plans to continue studying in the Master’s degree program and undergo an internship at the Rosprirodnadzor Center for Laboratory Analysis and Technical Measurement. According to her, the victory gave her an incentive for further development and self-confidence.

“Students from the north-western regions actively participate in life safety Olympiads and regularly become their winners. We decided to conduct a regional tour so that they could meet and make friends. I would like to thank the hosting party, the SPbGASU Department of Technosphere Safety and its head Vitaly Tsaplin, who warmly welcomed us and put a lot of effort into the organization of this Olympiad,” said Sergey Yefremov, Chairman of the North-Western Department of FUMO.

“Various universities provide different knowledge. For example, St. Petersburg State Fire Service University specializes in fire safety. And our department aims at such areas as labor protection, industrial safety, and environmental safety. The objective of the Olympiad is to come to a consensus on the most important aspects of life safety in general. I want to note that the students of SPbGASU are interested in studying this discipline and take it very seriously,” said Sergey Savin, professor at the SPbGASU Technosphere Safety Department.

We wish the winners and participants of the Olympiad further professional success!
