My congratulations to the academic teaching staff, personnel, students and graduate students on a significant date - the 190th anniversary of the Saint-Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering!
The oldest construction university in Russia, established by imperial decree as the School of Civil Engineers, has gone through a series of transformations for almost two centuries of its existence, while remaining an important and significant center for the training of professional and sought-after personnel in the field of architecture and construction.
At present, the university is the only specialized high school in architecture and construction in the North-West of Russia and a major scientific center. The university trains highly qualified specialists for the construction and related industries, acts as a locomotive of the latest developments, which research and practice results are widely used in Russia and abroad.
It is impossible to overestimate the role of the university, its teachers and graduates in building up the economic potential of the country. University graduates manage government bodies and companies, build houses and infrastructure facilities, and are active participants in the creation of the architectural heritage of Russia.
I am confident that today's students will also become outstanding architects, scientists and worthy successors to the traditions of the Russian civil engineers school, and will make a significant contribution to the development of science.

My congratulations on the 190th anniversary of the Saint-Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering!
For almost two centuries, the famous university has been a recognized center of engineering, the main forge of construction personnel. Among its graduates are well-known architects, heads of large companies, federal and regional government bodies.
The creativity of the university students largely determined the architectural appearance of Saint-Petersburg, Moscow, and many other cities of our country, near and far abroad.
During the Great Patriotic War, employees of the famous LISI participated in the implementation of important tasks related to the defense of Leningrad, and the preservation of historical monuments.
Today, SPbGASU honorably continues the long-standing professional and pedagogical traditions, constantly updating teaching technologies. You help the city to pursue a unified and effective urban development policy, solve key issues in the field of energy and housing and communal services, and implement priority infrastructure and environmental projects.

The history of SPbGASU is a bright page in the annals of Russian education and science. Founded in 1832 by decree of Nicholas I as the School of Civil Engineers, the university has brought up more than one generation of outstanding architects, engineers, and scientists. And today, specialists with modern knowledge and competencies emerge from the walls of one of the oldest technical universities in the country.
Every year SPbGASU only gets better. New areas of training are being opened, modern laboratories and research centers are being created. The university provides professional staff to large enterprises in the construction industry, thereby making a great contribution to its development. All this indicates that the university has very great prospects.
