SPbGASU team was the 2nd in the 38th city Olympiad in descriptive geometry

On December 21, 2019, the 38th Olympiad in descriptive geometry took place at the BSTU Voenmekh; the SPbGASU team won the silver medal in the team total. In the individual competition, SPbGASU student Alsu Khuzhina was the 2nd.

The team included Alsu Khuzhina, Alexei Gerasimov, Adil Dulatbek, Grigory Krivtsov, Bogdan Antipin, Kristina Ketova, Dmitry Kuznetsov. The team was led by a senior lecturer at the Department of Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Graphics Valentina S. Sokolova.

Adil Dulatbek reports:

- SPbGASU is one of the leaders in urban contests in descriptive geometry and engineering graphics. This year, 13 teams participated in the Olympiad. Our team got the second place. We are going to use our experience to take the first place in the engineering and computer graphics Olympiad next year!

Alexei Gerasimov said:

- Participation in the Olympiad involves studying of a large amount of additional information that needs to be understood and worked out. Offsets began, and time was short. But at least twice a week we had consultations. Head of the department Svetlana S. Shuvalova and senior teacher Valentina S. Sokolova worked with us.

According to Dmitry Kuznetsov, it is important not only to study the theory, but also to develop spatial thinking. “We need to understand how everything is built,” Dmitry believes.

All future engineers study descriptive geometry at universities. For many years, a city student olympiad in this subject has been taking place in St. Petersburg. The team of SPbGASU traditionally participates in it, always taking top places.

Congratulations to the silver medalists of the Olympiad and wishes of new victories!
