The Department of Technosphere Safety is studying the possibilities and effectiveness of using passive industrial exoskeletons in construction conditions. With the support of JSC TD "Vostok-Service", employees of the department tested the use of the "EXORISE" exoskeleton at a construction site of the FSK Group of Companies.

The task of an industrial exoskeleton is to minimize the load on the human body and increase its physical abilities, while maintaining its health and protecting the most vulnerable parts of the body.

To test the exoskeleton, work on laying internal partitions from foam concrete blocks was chosen. For half an hour, the mason worker worked in innovative personal protective equipment for the musculoskeletal system. According to the worker, when lifting and moving blocks in the exoskeleton, the burden of labor is alleviated due to back support. In addition, he noted that the exoskeleton is quite convenient to use with work clothes.

  • At a construction site, many work processes are associated with increased physical and dynamic stress. Manual lifting and moving heavy objects, stereotypical movements and bending of the body, uncomfortable working posture - all these factors in the workplace lead to increased fatigue, muscle strain, injuries and occupational diseases.

“It is worth noting that in 2023 GOST R 12.4.306-2023 “System of occupational safety standards. Personal protective equipment for the musculoskeletal system. Industrial exoskeletons. Classification. Terms and definitions” was introduced. That is why the development of production and the introduction of protective equipment aimed at preventing diseases of the musculoskeletal system is simply necessary,” said Andrey Nikulin, head of the SPbGASU Department of Technosphere Safety.
