On 22 September, the awards ceremony for the winners of the 9th All-Russian Competition for Young Architects and Urban Planners, "Ideas Transforming Cities," took place at the Nevskaya Ratusha administrative and business district in St Petersburg. Among the laureates were representatives of the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
Participants presented their projects and received letters of appreciation. The awards were presented by St Petersburg Vice-Governor Evgeny Razumishkin, Chairman of the St Petersburg Committee for Improvement Sergey Petrichenko, and representatives of the Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture and the Committee on Education of the Northern Capital.
In the "Courtyard Area Improvement" category, Karine Matevosyan, a fourth-year student at the SPbGASU Faculty of Architecture, was awarded a first-place diploma and an internship at the company Berso for her project "Quarter of the Future." Her academic supervisors were Elena Kutaliya, Senior Lecturer at the SPbGASU Department of Landscape Architecture, and Irina Shkolnikova, Associate Professor at the same department.
In the "Public Space Improvement" category, second-year student at the Faculty of Architecture Irina Shapovalova was awarded a second-degree diploma for her project to landscape and improve the grounds of a children's hospital. Her supervisors were Anna Lapkina and Nikita Zhiltsov, assistants at the Department of Landscape Architecture.
The remote stage of the competition received 2,309 applications from 87 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The in-person stage involved 670 finalists from 86 regions across the country—stretching from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka and including the new territories.
The competition is included in the list of events organized by the Ministry of Education of Russia for the 2025/26 academic year. All winners and prize-winners will be entered into the "Talents and Success" state information resource.
