On 29th November, 2016 an open lecture « Requirements of fire safety at construction of buildings with wooden designs» took place at the St.-Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering.  The lecture was read by the leading expert of the sector of fire supervision of State Construction Supervision and Inspection Service Michael Andreevich Ivanov. The section «Construction of wood and plastic» of the Chair of Building Designs of SPSUACE became the organizer of the action.

In the modern building market there constantly appear new fireproof materials and technologies. In this connection it is necessary to update operating specifications of designing and building of wooden apartment houses on 1st February, 2017.

Researches show that during a fire not protected metal designs lose the bearing ability in 15 minutes. Wooden designs not less than 60 mm thick can longer resist to fire influence. For construction of a five-floor apartment house from wood it is necessary to provide a class of constructive fire danger not lower than С1. If this requirement is executed, the fire cannot extend.

Modern requirements of standard and engineering specifications suppose construction of apartment houses with application of wooden constructions, but at performance of special fire prevention rules. About this was told at the open lecture for students of SPSUACE.
