Success of students of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering at the European review-competition of thesis projects in Florence

In March 2013 students of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering participated in the European review-competition of the best thesis projects which is annually held by the Romualdo del Bianco fund of Florence. Every year students of our university are awarded first place diplomas at various festivals organized by the fund, they also took premier places in the best ten projects assessed within internet voting and were esteemed as one of the best projects among the 500 ones participating in the competitions. 

Saint Petersburg was presented by the final year students of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering Maria Kozinova, Irina Kostikova, Ksenia Pantiukhina, and professor Fedor Perov and Yulia A. Deviatova. The projects presented by our students are notable for the modern and avant garde character of architectural concepts, application of contemporary building technologies, relevance of the subjects; while the architectural presentations fully satisfy the requirements to architectural design and proved competitiveness of the architectural school of SPSUACE. This year the university presented the project of the river Karpovka district development fulfilled as part of the bachelor degree thesis work. The given work was considered one of the best and awarded the competition certificate but it had been previously recognized as one of the best in Saint Petersburg.

Nowadays Romualdo del Bianco fund set new challenges such as creation of an international non-commercial portal “Life beyond tourism” which is aimed at development and conservation of the world cultural heritage. The international status of the portal implies that all events organized by the “Life beyond tourism» will be held in cooperation with the UNESCO and ICOMOS. The scope of participants and representatives will incorporate the most culturally developed countries and cities beginning with cultural centers of Europe and ending with those of the Southern America and Japan. The portal’s principal objective is to form a base for administrative, social and educational organizations of Europe to cooperate in issues referred to culture.

Saint Petersburg architecture school was presented by the professors of the faculty of architecture of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering who are recognized as reliable partners in architectural and cultural events exchange. During several years Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering has been cooperating with the Fund. Among the portal participants there are as well Council of Europe, authorities of Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Lucca, Turin, Toscana province, European institute of tourism, national companies such as World site of travelers, Uffizi museum, Chinese tourist company, universities of the largest cities of Europe.

The “Life beyond tourism” portal assumes creation of web pages devoted to cultural heritage of the countries, cities, culture and education organizations. Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering is one of the portal participants and has its own page on it. Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering suggested that the “Romualdo del Bianco fund and the university should interact in organizing “Architectural seasons” forum which is annually held in Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering. The mutual cooperation consists in the Romualdo del Bianco fund’s assistance in the organization of the international forum, while Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering is supposed to promote the non-commercial portal “Life beyond tourism” in Saint Petersburg.

Next event held by Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering in cooperation with the Romualdo del Bianco fund will take place in Saint Petersburg within the frame of the international review contest of thesis projects held by the faculty of architecture of Saint Petersburg state university iof architecture and civil engineering in September, 2013.
