The gubernatorial New Year's student ball

The ball took start with classical dances and continued with modern ones. All participants have got an unforgettable vivid experience.

One of the participants in the ball was a first-grade student of the SPbGASU Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Urban Economics Mikhail Rumyantsev. Mikhail is the recipient of the special prize of the city photo contest "Petersburg - in the world, the world - in St. Petersburg ..."; the winner of the university photo contest “Cadre“ in the nominations “Genre”, “City etude” and “Sports”, the winner of the photo contest “Cadre” in the nomination “Portrait”. We asked Mikhail to tell us more about photography.

“I started doing photography at school. When I entered the university, I came to the SPbGASU photo studio, which is headed by Vadim I. Fedorov. Most of all I like to shoot in the “City Etude” and “Landscape” genres. I consider that to get into the secrets of mastery, it’s essentiall to get an eyeful of other people’s works: to understand how to shoot, you need to see a lot of good photos,” Mikhail said and invited all novice photographers to the SPbGASU photo studio.

Another participant in the ball was a fourth-year student of the SPbGASU Faculty of Civil Engineering Daria Trishina. In 2019, Daria became a 1st degree laureate of the “Transfiguration. The Gold of Autumn” International Festival Contest as a member of the Made’Ira Dance Group. She also is laureate of the 1st degree at the International Dance Art Competition “Life in Motion”; winner of the International DanceWay Festival; she was awarded with the 1st degree diploma of the 2nd All-Russian non-profit choreographic competition “Dance Unity”. At our request, Daria spoke about her dancing and the ball:

“I’ve been dancing all my life and continued doing this when I enrolled at the university. I saw the performance of the guys from the modern dance studio “Made’Ira” at the initiation in freshmen and realized that I really wanted to dance with them. For four years I have been engaged in this wonderful team as part of the Brick Center for Student Leisure and Creativity under direction of Irina A. Deyeva. We fruitfully performed at various competitions, took prizes. At the ball, I was interested to meet students from other universities who also work a lot and excelled in something. They are all different! It was a lot of fun.”

Invitations to the Gubernatorial New Year's ball were sent to students of St. Petersburg universities and colleges who have distinguished themselves in studies, creativity, sports, and social activities.
