The builders-to-be learned about the double degree program with Saimaa University of Applied Sciences
SPbGASU students have many opportunities for academic mobility. One of them is double degree programs, currently implemented at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services.
On September 11, 2019, Petri Himmi, a teacher at Saimaa University of Applied Sciences (Lappeenranta, Finland), presented a double degree program for students of the faculty of civil engineering. The auditorium was packed.
Petri Himmi told the audience that the students selected study for 3 or 4 years at SPbGASU and after that for a year at Saimaa University of Applied Sciences. Graduates of the program receive two Bachelor’s degrees: from SPbGASU and from the Finnish University.
Training at Saimaa University of Applied Sciences is conducted in English, so participants in the double degree program must have good command of English.
The Finnish side provides scholarships to selected students, which covers tuition fees for the program.
"The world is changing, – said Petri Himmi, – and we must be open to these changes. The teachers of our university will not teach you something extraordinary or super-new. But this is a chance for you to see familiar things from a different angle, get acquainted with Finnish culture and gain new experience".
Students of the faculty of civil engineering heard about the features of training at Saimaa University of Applied Sciences and requirements applied to program participants, and had a chance to ask Petri Himmi numerous questions.
