The Day of Knowledge at SPbGASU: “You did the right thing!”
The Day of Knowledge at SPbGASU is an event that every freshman will surely remember. In 2019, the action took place on August 31, when, according to tradition, first-year students gathered near the main entrance to the University. The official ceremony began with the national anthem of the Russian Federation. The rector of SPbGASU Evgeny I. Rybnov congratulated yesterday's applicants on joining one of the oldest Russian universities, which has this year turned 187.

Over the years, more than 60 thousand certified architects, builders, economists, and engineers have graduated from the University. Among those there are major statesmen, heads of construction and motor transport enterprises, architectural workshops and design institutes, and prominent scientists. The acting head of St. Petersburg, Alexander D. Beglov, is also a graduate of LISI –– SPbGASU of 1983.
We are very proud of the contribution that our teachers and graduates made to the formation of the architectural look of St. Petersburg. I hope that none of you will regret your choice – the choice of SPbGASU. Ahead of you is a new stage of your life, the student years. I hope they will be great. Freshmen received good wishes from the Federal Inspector for St. Petersburg of the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the RF President in the North-West Federal District Tatyana Yu. Kubrakova. In her opinion, SPbGASU has been the flagship of the civil engineering industry for nearly two centuries. The university retains the old school, but also absorbs everything new and keeps developing.
On behalf of the City Administration, vice-governor of St. Petersburg, a graduate of LISI –– SPbGASU (1991) Nikolai L. Bondarenko congratulated the students: “The city is waiting for you guys! In the construction, in the urban economy, professionals are needed. Do come, we are waiting for you! ”
The Chief Architect of St. Petersburg, Chairman of the Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of St. Petersburg and 1983 a graduate of LISI – SPbGASU Vladimir A. Grigoriev expressed confidence that the students will become qualified specialists. And the Chairman of the Construction Committee of the St. Petersburg Administration Leonid V. Kulakov told the freshmen about career prospects. According to him this year, 21 students underwent practical training at the Committee and subordinate institutions, of which four are already expected for a permanent job. The official part of the event ended up with a speech by Yegor Ilyin, Chairman of the SPbGASU Student Council; his words caused a storm of applause. “I will not make long speeches. You already know that you entered the best architectural and civil engineering university in the country! Student years are the best years of your life; you will remember them with warmth for the rest of your days. And the Student Council of SPbGASU will help you reach your potential and grow in your endeavors. Take it all and be who dares! You did the right thing! ”
