The sixth Saint Petersburg congress
“Vocational education, science, innovations in the 21st century”
Top management of Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, deans of the faculties, heads of the chairs, professors and post-graduate students participated in the Plenary meeting and session meetings of the Sixth Saint Petersburg congress “Vocational education, science, innovations in the 21st century” which started on November 21, 2012 in Saint Petersburg, Federal state budgetary educational institution of higher vocational education “National mineral resources university ”Mining”.
The congress is held on the purpose of strengthening positions of Saint Petersburg as a large centre of vocational education, science and innovation activity; developing tights between education, science and business spheres in questions relating to personnel training, scientific and innovation policy.
Congress organizers are:
- Committee for science and higher school of Saint Petersburg;
- Council of rectors of Saint Petersburg higher educational institutions;
- Saint Petersburg scientific centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences;
- Council of directors heading institutions of secondary vocational education.
The congress was opened by the rector of the National mineral resources university “Mining” Vladimir S. Litvinenko.
Participants of the congress were greeted by vice-director of the Federal service for control in the sphere of education and science Tatyana A. Barkhatova; president of the Union of industrialists and entrepreneurs (employers) of Saint Petersburg Anatoly A. Turchak, rector of Saint Petersburg state economic university – Igor A. Maksimtsev; chairman of the Committee for science and higher school Andrey S. Maksimov.
The plenary meeting finished with the ceremony of granting awards to the winners of the contest of business ideas, scientific and technical developments, and scientific research projects made under the slogan “Young. Impudent. Perspective”.
Within the frame of the congress there functioned the section “Improvement of the vocational education system in the context of the state social and economic policy”, “Cluster approach in development of fundamental and applied scientific researches”, “Commercialization of results of scientific activity as a basis of innovation process”.
At the sections there were discussed various topical issues of the state and private partnership in the sphere of education, creation of new forms of scientific technical cooperation with the business community, a new paradigm of professional education reasoned by changes happening in the society. A separate subject of the discussion became implication of students into the scientific creativity, as well as usage of contemporary and interactive methods in organizing the educational process.
Young scientists took part in the work of the Youth discussion club “Popularization of innovation activity in the youth environment”.
