Training sessions are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the state educational standard of the third generation (3++). The purpose of teaching the disciplines "Physical culture and sports" and "Elective disciplines in physical culture and sports" is to prepare a specialist to maintain the proper level of physical activity to ensure a full-fledged social and professional activity.

The discipline "Physical culture and sport" in accordance with the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Education is included in the mandatory part of educational programs, including when mastering the educational program by people with disabilities and people with health disorders. Classes in the discipline "Physical Culture and Sports", implemented in the amount of 72 academic hours, are mandatory for students of all forms of education and are held in study groups at lecture- and seminar-type classes in accordance with the schedule. The form of intermediate certification in the discipline is the test in the first semester.

The discipline "Elective disciplines in physical culture and sports" is also required for mastering. The volume of the discipline "Elective disciplines in physical culture and sports" is 328 academic hours and is distributed over five semesters (in accordance with the curriculum). The form of intermediate certification in the discipline is the tests that are held in the second, fourth and fifth semesters.

Within the program of the "Elective disciplines in physical culture and sports", students independently choose one of the ways to master it:
  • classes in general physical training at the SPbGASU in accordance with the schedule, in basic and special groups;
  • special physical training in sports groups (sections) of SPbGASU;
  • physical training at the third-party sports organizations (fitness clubs, swimming pools, sports sections, etc.);
  • organization of physical training of students according to the program, developed by the Department of Physical Education.

Students have the right to change the method of mastering the elective discipline on a personal application submitted in the prescribed manner before 30 April of the corresponding academic year.

The main focus of the classes is general physical training, taking into account professional and applied physical culture and the specialization of sports halls.

Certification of students in an elective discipline is carried out in accordance with the "Regulations on the current monitoring of progress and intermediate certification of students in higher education programs of SPbGASU":
  • As part of the training sessions at SPbGASU, current monitoring of progress and current certification of students is carried out. The teacher sets the control points for the current control of students' progress in accordance with the work program of the discipline. The schedule for the implementation of checkpoints is fixed by the teacher in the technological map. The test is set by the teacher conducting these classes;
  • For students mastering elective discipline in the SPbGASU sports sections, the test is given by the coach of the sports section;
  • Students who master elective disciplines in third-party sports organizations and according to the program developed by the Department of Physical Education must submit supporting documents to their dean's office in order to pass the intermediate certification: an agreement with a third-party sports organization; a certificate from a third-party sports organization; diary of self-control and physical activity. During the test and examination session, the employees of the dean's office, holding the positions of the teaching staff, make an entry in the record sheet about the intermediate certification of students who have mastered the elective discipline in third-party sports organizations or according to the program developed by the Department of Physical Education, on the basis of supporting documents.

For disabled people and persons with health disorders, a special procedure for mastering the discipline is established based on the observance of the principles of health conservation. Given that physical culture and sports for the disabled and people with health disorders provide for the use of a complex of effective means of physical rehabilitation and social adaptation, the following criteria for assessing the implementation of physical culture and sports classes are established: social adaptation and integration; positive dynamics of motor abilities; increasing the level of general and special physical training. Classes in physical training and sports with them are conducted by specialists with appropriate training. The mastering of the discipline in physical training and sports by disabled people and persons with health disorders is organized either together with other students; or in separate groups; or individually.
