The mail goal of the Department is training of:

• Bachelor’s degree students in the “Construction” area of studies (speciality “Heat and gas supply and ventilation”) in the intramural, extramural and part-time modes of study, on the budgetary and fee-paying basis; since 2019, admission to the "Engineering life support systems in construction" speciality has been carried out for all forms of training.
• Bachelor’s degree students in the “Heat and power engineering” area of studies (speciality “Energy supply of enterprises”) in the intramural mode of study, on the budgetary and fee-paying basis
• Master’s degree students in the “Construction” area of studies (speciality “Heat and gas supply and ventilation”) in the intramural and extramural modes of study, on the budgetary and fee-paying basis
• Master’s degree students in the “Heat and Power Engineering” area of studies (speciality “Power Supply of Enterprises”) in the intramural mode of study, on the budgetary and fee-paying basis.

The Department is training postgraduate students in the “Engineering and construction technology” area of studies (focusing on the educational program “Heat supply, ventilation, air conditioning, gas supply and lighting”).

The Department takes an active part in the work of the SPbGASU Institute for Advanced Studies and Retraining of Specialists under the programs of additional professional education in the “Heat and Gas Supply and Ventilation” area of studies.

The Department carries out research work in the field of heat and gas supply, ventilation, heating, air conditioning, reviews of scientific works, design of heat and gas supply and ventilation systems and expert examination of design projects.
