Presentation of a monograph about the architect Marian Lyalevich

On 15 December, 2023 at 19:00 in the media hall of the Library named after. V.V. Mayakovsky (St Petersburg, Fontanka River embankment, 44) there will be a lecture by Aleksandr Chepel, head of the department of history and cultural studies of the St Petersburg State Maritime Technical University, and Irina Belintseva, head of the department of the history of Russian architecture and urban planning, Research Institute of Theory and History of Architecture and Urban Planning, and the presentation of the first Russian monograph on the life and work of the architect Marian Stanislavovich Lyalevich (1876–1944).

The book “Architect Marian Lyalevich” (St Petersburg: Propylaea, 2023) was published on the initiative and with funds from the Charitable Foundation for the Support of Culture and Art DICTUM FACTUM, founded by architect Evgeny Gerasimov, an SPbGASU graduate.

Ethnic Polander Marian Lyalevich came to St Petersburg in 1895 and for 23 years connected his life with the city on the Neva. The monograph fully reflects the work of the master of architecture; it is full of archival drawings, historical photographs and location shooting specially performed for this publication. Most materials are published for the first time.
