SPbGASU student won awards at the World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships
Alena Aksyonova
The 2021 IOF World MTBO Championships and Junior World MTBO Championships took place from June 10 to 18 in the Finnish municipality of Kuortane.
The competition programme included mass start, sprint, middle distance, long distance and three-stage relay.
Alena Aksyonova, a second-year Architecture student majoring in architectural environment design, won two personal bronze medals – in sprint and classic categories, as well as a gold medal in the relay, where she finished the race.
This is not Alena's first significant achievement: earlier, she twice became the European champion in MTBO among juniors. Moreover, the student is a Master of Sports.
Alena told that combining studies at SPbGASU and professional sports is a challenging, but feasible task, since the university provides support to athletes.
Congratulations to Alena and wishing her further victories!
