“We learned a lot!”

From November 18 to December 25, 2019, representatives of the Tashkent Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering (TACEI, Uzbekistan) trained at the St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The internship was organized as part of an agreement on cooperation between the universities in the field of educational, scientific and research activities

The group of trainees included head of the Department of Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture Bakhodir G. Matchonov, head of the Department of Design, Construction and Maintenance of Engineering Communications Dildora E. Makhmudova, assistant professors of the Department of Building Mechanics and Seismic Resistance Shukhrat I. Askarkhodzhaev and Dilmurod G. Akhundjanov

✔ Scientific internship was taking place at three SPbGASU departments: of Water Use and Ecology, Structural Mechanics, and Architectural and Urban Heritage.

TACEI representatives got acquainted with the technical base of the university and the activities of the departments, exchanged experiences on teaching methods, attended training sessions, and established professional contacts.

“Two trainee teachers were affiliated with the Department of Structural Mechanics of the faculty of civil engineering. Their leaders were Professor Yuri L. Rutman and Associate Professor Nadezhda V. Ostrovskaya. The scientific interests of the trainees embraced the analysis of the behavior of construction structures, and buildings as a whole under seismic loads, the development of recommendations to reduce the risk of damages to structures from earthquakes. In addition to numerous consultations with teachers and the head of the Department of Structural Mechanics, Yevgeny A. Kobelev, Uzbek interns attended lectures and practical classes, talked with colleagues on various aspects of teaching: curricula, work with students, future internships for graduate students at the faculty of civil engineering, etc.” - dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering Alexander Panin commented.

“I want to thank the staff of SPbGASU for the internship. We really enjoyed it. We learned a lot, acquired numerous skills. I hope the cooperation of our universities will continue,” D.E. Makhmudova shared.
