The department holds an educational laboratory equipped with modern equipment, where students perform laboratory works on the main courses of the department, master's and PhD students conduct their experimental research.
The department has close and fruitful contacts with leading Russian and foreign industrial and design organizations in the field of heat and gas supply, ventilation and air conditioning, such as Arktos LLC, Baltkotlomash LLC, Bureau of Air Conditioning Technics CJSC, HERZ, REHAU, Peterburggaz GDO, Hortek-Center LLC, Ecoyurus-Vento LLC, LG Electronics, Small Innovative Enterprise Samson-Comfort LLC, etc.
The teachers of the department are members of professional associations: NP "ABOK North-West" (Association of HVAC Engineers NW), SPTEK "Gas Club", constantly participate in professional conferences, seminars, exhibitions.

The department trains bachelors and masters in the indicated areas, as well as PhD and doctoral students in the field of study "Construction technique and technology" (educational program specialization is "Heat supply, ventilation, air conditioning, gas supply and lighting").
